Search Optics® ‘Share for a Cause’ Fundraiser Benefits Detroit-Area School Projects with More Than $10,000 Donated

Digital Marketing Solutions Leader Makes Teachers’ Dreams Come True Through Social Media-Powered, Community-Focused Fundraising Campaign

DETROIT November 18, 2014Search Optics®, a leading digital marketing solutions provider with a specialty in automotive, today announced it has donated more than $10,000 to benefit Detroit-area school projects through its inaugural “Share for a Cause” fundraising event, held in celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Woodward Dream Cruise.

Search Optics reached its fundraising goal for Share for a Cause through an innovative social media-powered campaign performed in cooperation with the online charity DonorsChoose.org. The campaign involved the participation of hundreds of Dream Cruise attendees, who were asked to share their event photos on Facebook. For each share that the photos received, Search Optics donated $1 to Detroit-area school projects posted by teachers on DonorsChoose.org.

“Search Optics is committed to giving back, and with the help of the Detroit community, we more than met our goal,” said Christian Fuller, Chief Relationship Officer, Search Optics. “We asked Dream Cruise attendees to support our cause by sharing their Woodward Dream Cruise photos on their Facebook walls, and they came out and shared in droves. As a result, we were able to help Detroit area teachers and students jumpstart important new educational projects this school year.”

More than 20 school projects in total – encompassing topics ranging from art and music to reading, technology, mathematics and more – were funded through Share for a Cause.

“I can’t fully express my joy, excitement and thanks for this donation to my project,” said Edwina Lawson, a first grade teacher at Mann Elementary School in Detroit, MI. “The computers funded by Search Optics through DonorsChoose will enable my students to explore and go beyond the confined outlook of their limited exposure. We are very grateful to Search Optics for providing the tools needed for unlimited academic and virtual enrichment.”

“Through Share for a Cause, Search Optics has made a difference for our Detroit area public school teachers and their students as they kicked off the new school year,” said Margie Cadet, Marketing Associate of Engagement at DonorsChoose.org. “We’d like to thank the Search Optics staff and all those who participated in the Facebook campaign for turning a popular community event into a meaningful fundraiser for school projects.”

Photos from the Dream Cruise fundraiser can be seen online on the Search Optics Facebook page.
