As discussed in the last installment of Search Optics Stats Tips and Tricks, there are an overwhelming number of reports you can run from within your Search Optics Stats. For this reason, delving into index tools can seem like a huge task when you first begin. As with most things, it’s easiest to start with the basics and work you way up to the big stuff. The aim of this post is to cover a few Search Optics Stats reports everyone should know!

Report: First Time Vs. Returning Visitors
How to Run It: Select the date range you want to view on the calendar at the top left-hand corner of the page. Then, below Reports click visitors and then First Time Vs. Returning Visitors.
Why Do I Care? This reports breaks down your site’s traffic into new visitors and old. In addition to giving you a good idea of the traffic overall, it’s important to keep an eye on the types of traffic your site receives. Report: Most Requested Pages By Title
How to Run It: Select the date range you want to view on the calendar at the top left-hand corner of the page. Then, below reports click Pages & Files and Most Requested Pages (by Title).
Why Do I Care? It’s always a good idea to know what customers are doing on your site. Are they visiting your new car inventory or your used car inventory more often? The Most Requested pages report can help show you what areas of your site are attracting the most traffic so you can plan accordingly.

Report: Top Search Phrases
How to Run It: Select the date range you want to view on the calendar at the top left-hand corner of the page. Then, below Reports click Marketing and then Search Engines and the Phrases.
Why Do I Care? It’s important to know what people are looking for in the search engines when they come to your site. For any dealer, the name of your business is likely to be the most popular search phrase, but below that you can find out a lot about what your customers are looking for when they find you.

Report: Conversion Summary
How to Run It: Select the date range you want to view on the calendar at the top left-hand corner of the page. Then, below Reports click Marketing and then Conversions and Conversations Summary.
Why Do I Care? Search Optics Stats counts any time someone fills out a form on your site as a conversion. Service Requests, Quick Quotes, and Contact Us Forms are all important leads. The Conversion Summary gives you an idea of how many of these you’re seeing on a day to day basis.

Report: Document Views By Page Group
How to Run It: Select the date range you want to view on the calendar at the top left-hand corner of the page. Then, below Reports click Pages & Files and then Page Views By Document Group (More detail below)
Why Do I Care? This report is important not so much for what it shows when you first look at it, but for how you can drill into it. Next to each page group, (conversions, new vehicles, etc), there is a magnifying glass. By putting your mouse on this you can drill into Breakdown by Page Title. This allows you to see the specific pages in this group. You can then look at which cars specifically people have been viewing in the New Inventory and what types of conversions have been going on. All of this is powerful info that can affect your marketing decisions.
